Dear Chocolatier,

Chocolate Box was my first exchange and I'm super excited to participate in the third round. (I've been thinking about it since late November if that's any indication of my excitement.)

I love exploring canon and characters through fanfiction, so feel free to completely write off-prompt or take the
general prompt idea and modify it. For prompts that may seem better suited
for longer fic, I'd absolutely love just a min word count ficlet featuring the idea.

I'm going all in with my requests this year and may not have specific prompts for everything. I am absolutely interested in receiving a gift for anything in this letter, so look to my likes in those cases and let your creativity drive you. As long as you don't hit a DNW, I'm good with anything and easy to please.

Please send questions through the mods if needed. You may, if you want, look to my letters for previous exchanges for more ideas, but I've revised my DNWs yet again so please only be concerned with the DNWs in this letter. My likes from previous letters still stand, however.

fingalsanteater on AO3
<br
fingalsanteater on AO3

Thank you for writing for me! I've tried to include prompts for all my requests, but, as always, you do not have to write to my prompts, you can always go off-prompt if you started trying to fulfill one, and you can take the general prompt idea and modify it. Also, you may pull prompts or ideas from my Chocolate Box letters if you are so inclined (the fandoms may be wildly different, but I still like what I like). I’ll enjoy anything you write me because I absolutely love exploring canon through fanfiction, no matter where it takes you. Thank you again and I want you to have a fun time writing for me.

As a heads up, this letter will contain a lot of incest prompts. Now, on to the...

General likes and dislikes (see each specific fandom and pairing for exceptions and variations):

Likes:

POV/narration: third person limited, second person, outsider POV, unreliable narrators. I have no preferences regarding tense as long as it’s consistent.

Canon adherence/AUs/tropes: canon compliance, canon divergence ("what if?" fic), IN SPACE AUs (especially on spaceships or space stations in the future), Age of Sail AUs, Time Travel and Time Loop AUs, dystopias, cyberpunk, solarpunk, biopunk, post-Apocalypse (think Mad Max or Fallout) epistolary fic, nonlinear style, episode tags, Twilight Zone-esque twist endings with a horror bent, creepy or gothic themes (especially Southern Gothic), enemies to friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, sex pollen, [someone] made them do it.

Tone/kinks: angst, introspection, first-times, pining (especially pining for touch), loyalty kink, sexual tension and slow-burns, casual touching (forehead touches/kisses, hand holding, hair petting, hugging), cuddling, bed sharing, hero worship, body worship, porn with feelings (especially sad feelings, angry feelings, and extremely tender and loving feelings), emotion porn (not so much sexual as just wallowing in feelings), emotional hurt/comfort, emotional manipulation, power imbalances, mild D/s dynamics (but not as a kink so much as an offshoot of a power imbalance), inclusion of in-universe media (emails, texts, academic articles, LJ posts, etc.), slice-of-life, half-clothed quicky sex, praise kink, betrayal, infidelity, dub-con, omoroshi (the desperation part, not so much the watersports part), desperate begging, squirting, xeno-biology, xeno-sex, size kink, incest, unshaven women (hairy legs, underarms, pubic area), shaving kink, identity kink.

DNWs:

Canon compliance/AUs/tropes: modern-day AUs (unless specified), mundane AUs, a/b/o, AUs that completely ignore canon personalities, Zombie Apocalypse AUs, death fic (I don’t mind mentions of canon death, but I don’t want a fic that focuses specifically on the POV character’s death or another’s death), sickness fic and sickness h/c (from cancer to colds – I’m not interested), gruesome focus on major physical injury, serious injury h/c (focus on long-term recovery from a debilitating gunshot, for example), issue fic, gender headcanons unless specified otherwise, men menacing women.

Tone/kinks: kink negotiations (especially regarding safewords), scenes of explicit consent before/during sex ("Are you sure?" "Yes!" "Are you really, really sure? I need your consent to continue," for example), condoms, clear non-con unless specified otherwise, extreme or explicit underage, pure fluff with no hint of angst or conflict, homophobic slurs, real life racial/classist/etc. slurs (meaning if you are working in a fantasy or sci-fi setting, use of "Mudblood," or another made-up word is okay as long as it's warranted and not excessive).

Note on incest pairings: I don't really like "happy" incest. I prefer the characters to at least recognize the taboo, and the need to keep their liaison secret. If the narrative provides it, I'd prefer them getting a thrill over doing something forbidden or angsting over their forbidden desires.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

( Animorphs )

( Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them )

( The Lion in Winter )

( The Sims )

( Original Work )

Anonymous questions regarding this letter are allowed.
fingalsanteater on AO3

Thank you for writing for me! I'm excited to read what you've written. I'm guaranteed to love anything you do because yay! a gift for me that you worked hard on. Seriously, thanks so much. I hope this letter will be of assistance to you.

First, some general likes and dislikes:

Likes: canon compliance, canon divergence ("what if?" fic), IN SPACE AUs (especially on spaceships or space stations in the future), Age of Sail AUs, Time Travel and Time Loop AUs, outsider pov, second person pov, third person pov, unreliable narrators, angst, introspection, pining (especially pining for touch), loyalty kink, sexual tension, casual touching (forehead touches/kisses, hand holding, hair petting, hugging), cuddling, body worship, porn with feelings (especially sad feelings, angry feelings, and extremely tender and loving feelings), D/s dynamics, half-clothed quicky handjobs, praise kink, emotional hurt/comfort, physical hurt/comfort, enemies to friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, betrayal, infidelity, dub-con.

Dislikes: AUs other than what's specified in likes, modern-day AUs, scat, kink negotiations, condoms, sickness hurt/comfort.

Each fandom and pairing may have more specifications.

WWE

Fandom specific likes/dislikes:

I prefer kayfabe compliant fics set within canon, meaning the match outcomes aren't predetermined and the feuds are real <s>and the points don't matter</s>. Seth Rollins really is traitorous jerk who did try to end Dean's career by curbstomping his head through cinderblocks and the NYPD really did arrest Vince McMahon on Raw the other night. 100% not scripted.

That doesn't mean I don't like a little deviation from canon, however. In fact, I think wrestling is the perfect medium for canon-divergent fics. Canon-divergence, or "what if?," fics are some of my favorite types of fics. I like fantasy bookings and exploring the consequences of events in feuds if they happened a different way. What if Roman Reigns had won MitB this year? What if Erick Rowan had returned as Dean and Roman's third man at NoC? I don't mind mentions of "What would it mean for the storyline if this wrestler had not been not injured," as long as the subject is broached with respect.

Pairings:

Bray Wyatt/Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, Luke Harper/Erick Rowan

So, I don't really ship Luke/Erick in a sexual/romantic sense, let me just get that out of the way. But, I've included that pairing in this Wyatt family tag set because why not? I will love any and all Wyatt fic, especially if Luke and Erick are included. Just, like, give me Luke and Erick (and, I know Braun's not in the tag set, but you can most definitely include him) and Bray making a spaghetti dinner at home and I'll be happy. (Note: that's just an example, I'm not particularly looking for domestic fic or Wyatt Family dinners.)

If I were forced to choose an OTP for this fandom, however, it would be Bray/Luke by a mile. It's difficult for me explain why I love this pair so much, but I'm going to try to be coherent about them. I love loyalty kink and I especially love loyalty kink between people who are so profoundly fucked up. I enjoy the ownership Bray has over Luke in both a kinky way and a pair dynamic way, if that makes sense. He's Bray's first son, his brother, his general and his monster. Bray molded a broken man into something that is completely his, and Luke loves what he's become in Bray's hands. He would kill or die for Bray in a second and his loyalty has never wavered. It's darkly romantic. I love when Luke looks at Bray like he's seeing God. I love the faith Bray has in Luke.

I'm also interested in the differences between Luke as Bray's most loyal family member who would never think of betraying Bray and Erick as the rebellious lost sheep who was always family even when he didn't want to be.

Emma/Dana Brooke

What's not to love about evil girlfriends who seem to pick fights they can't win?

Dana worships her own body, so how does she feel about Emma worshipping her? Does Emma pine to touch her? Or, vice versa. What if Dana just has a body worship fetish that includes not only her own body, but Emma's as well.

How do they lick their wounds after Asuka's beat down?

Just give me evil girlfriends doing what evil girlfriends do.

Alexa Bliss/Buddy Murphy/Andrew Blake

Praise kink and femdom? Yes, please.

Charlotte/Becky Lynch

Show me Becky being so damn proud of Charlotte for winning the Diva's title. Show me Becky being angry at Paige for all the horrible things she said and did to Charlotte. Show me Becky dealing with Charlotte's underhanded tactics. Show me all the hurt/comfort after Paige put the beat down on poor Becky. Show me Charlotte slowly corrupting beautiful babyface Becky and turning her heel.

Other relationships I like but have no specific thoughts on -

Alberto Del Rio & Sheamus & Rusev & Wade Barrett, Asuka/Emma, Stephanie McMahon/Seth Rollins/Triple H, Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose/Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose/Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins, Tyler Breeze/Kevin Owens, Kevin Owens/Seth Rollins.

Lucha Underground

Fandom specific likes/dislikes: Same as WWE - keep it kayfabe compliant.

Angélico/Son of Havoc/Ivelisse Vélez

What did they get up to over the season break? Do they come back into the temple with a plan to take their titles back?

I'm also interested in wing!kink as it seems the fandom likes writing Angelico with wings and I'm pretty into that when it's about body/wing worship.

For the other pairings I requested, I'm good with anything that fits with my general likes.

Fallout 4

Fandom specific likes/dislikes:

I prefer the use of default names (Nate or Nora). However, change of default appearance (if described in the fic) is encouraged. I prefer fics set pre-game's end.

Deacon/Male Sole Survivor, John Hancock/Male Sole Survivor, Robert Joseph MacCready/Male Soul Survivor

I'm looking for just about the same thing from all these pairings, which is why I've lumped them together. I love wasteland adventures and reading about them falling in love. Why is Nate so special? What draws his companion to him?

Paladin Danse/Male Sole Survivor

In addition to the wasteland adventures and falling in love, I'm interested in a fic with this pairing that deals with Danse's feelings on being a Synth. How does he reconcile his memories of his life with this knowledge? How does he reconcile his bigotry towards Synths knowing he is one? How does Nate deal with Danse's true nature?

Merlin

Fandom specific likes/dislikes:

Oh, those sweet, sweet magic reveals and canon divergent fics. I could read a million of them. Also, fics where Merlin is happy. Please make Merlin happy. (Unless I specify otherwise.)

Merlin/Arthur Pendragon, Merlin & Arthur Pendragon

Did I mention I like magic reveal fics and canon divergence? What if Merlin revealed his power at [some specific time]? What if Arthur lived? This is also a good pairing for loyalty and praise kinks.

Balinor & Merlin

What if the writers of Merlin didn't want to torture Merlin so? I'll take father/son bonding, canon divergent AUs in which Balinor lives, just anything that gives Merlin some measure of happiness.

Gwaine/Merlin, Gwaine & Merlin

I watched that episode with the Fisher King again the other day and I'm 100% convinced Gwaine is totally in love with Merlin, but thinks Merlin is totally in love with Arthur. This is my most angsty pairing. I'm sorry. I love the idea of Gwaine pining for Merlin but holding back because he thinks Merlin's eyes are on Arthur. He can be wrong or right, your choice. Or, you can do anything else you want with the pairing, honestly. I love Gwaine/Merlin so much and love them sad or happy. Gwaine lives and comforts Merlin after Arthur's death? Gwaine finds out about Merlin's magic and is super protective of him? Gwaine sends him gifts to woo him and Merlin is smitten with his secret admirer? I'm so good with anything.

Gwen/Morgana, Gwen & Morgana

This is another "I'll take anything" pairing. Angst, falling in love fluff, kink? I'm good. Does Gwen's acceptance of Morgana's magic cause Morgana not to betray Camelot? Does Morgana obsess over her former maid and want her for her own?

Morgana/Morgause

I want to read about evil witchy sisters doing what evil witchy sisters do. And, I want them to do it kinkily.

---

Questions and comments on this letter are welcome. I will be happy to clarify anything or just chat about fandom if you want.

[Note: Edited Jan. 07, 2016.]

comments

MCU

To Burn the Horizon by CourtJester: Loki/Tony; word count - 100k+

The writing style in this is easy and quick, flowing and rather casual, which I think works good for a Tony POV. Loki is very MCU!Loki in this-- mostly an idiot who doesn't know when to stop. (Which I, personally, like.) This is slightly AU from the end of Iron Man. Tony is in a bad headspace, which helps me somewhat suspend my disbelief that he'd ever give Loki the time of day. Anyway, it's a good read and that I found highly entertaining. The author leaves some plot threads hanging because s/he's intending on writing sequels, but overall the story feels complete. This is one of the the better Loki/Tony fics I've read.

Shatter by Aria; Loki/Thor; word count - 32k

A "What if?" take on Thor. What if Loki, instead of Thor, had been cast out. I, surprisingly, hadn't seen this type of "What if?" yet. Aria does a great job of flipping to Loki's POV while keeping everyone's character and reactions seem as if they could have happened in canon. This is one of the loveliest (and hottest) Loki/Thor fics I've read.

Earth 2

The Children of Earth and Air by Lady Kate; post-canon gen with slight canon pairing interaction, Alonzo & Morgan-centric; work count - 71k

This a wonderful post-canon story focusing on Alonzo and Morgan as they are unwittingly and rather unwilling dragged into another messy request for help from some G889 creatures (some winged Terrians). This a great original plot that feels like it could have been a season 2 episode. The Morgan POV is fabulous. He's his unlikably likable self, and he's not extraneous to the plot as just a whipping boy or trouble maker. (His skills even come in handy!) This is an engaging and fun read.

comments

So, that great time loop fic (Shadow Plays) I recced the other day got me looking for other time loop or Groundhog Day-type fics. Here are the two I've found and liked so far:

Harry Potter

Eternal Return by silverpard: gen, horror; word count - 4k

I always appreciate a time loop fic that leans more toward horror. This one is full on terrifying with its horrible implications and hopelessness. The good sort of terrifying that leaves you wondering and wanting more.

The Walking Dead

This Time Tomorrow by CinderSky; gen-ish, some Daryl/Andrea; word count - 10k

A wonderful fix-it time loop fic where Daryl gets the chance to save Sophia. Daryl's POV is fabulous and heartbreaking and perfect. You can feel the passage of time-- how many days he's been in the loop-- through his character growth, which is great storytelling.

comments

But, I love how helpless Thor is to resist his brother, even when his brother requests things that are "most unbrotherly." It's a quick, satisfying read for those interested in the more sordid, fandom interpretation of Loki and Thor's relationship. And, admittedly, this fic is pretty hot.

Chaos War by astolat: Loki/Thor; word count - 30k+, (Quickie summary: Asgard and all the realms are under attack from an unrelenting and mindless force.)

It's hard to give a proper summary without spoiling some things. Needless to say, this is a wonderfully detailed story featuring a delightfully in-character Thor and Loki. I especially love astolat's Loki in this because he is clever; and, his mischievousness, which at first seems to serve no purpose, actually ends up making sense. This fic is actually rather gen-ish until the end, so I think people interested in either Thor or Loki (but not Loki/Thor in particular) would still enjoy this fic.

Shadow Plays by dreamlittleyo: Loki/Thor; word count - 25k, (Warning: Rape/non-con)

I'm a sucker for time loops. Time loops are one of my favorite tropes and I can never get enough of them. Just the fact that this is time loop fic is enough for me to rec. That it is a well-written and interesting time loop fic is a bonus. That Loki and Thor are in character is an extra bonus. (And, the sexual tension between the two is so delicious.) Additionally, the non-con aspect of the story is treated very well and given its due weight within the narrative, but not so much so that it becomes preachy and detracts from the flow of the story.

Earth 2

The Last Wildflower by Tara O'Shea: Morgan/Bess; word court - 3k+

Basically, the story of when Morgan met Bess, albeit a little less than canon compliant. (The fic was written after the show had been off the air for a while and well before it would be available on DVD or streaming, so I can forgive tiny oversights.) This fic is short, sweet and satisfying.

Auryn by nic; Devon/Danziger, Alonzo/Morgan; word count - 40k

A creative post-canon fic which manages to capture the wonderful mix of magic and science present in the show. Admittedly, for me, the writing leaves a bit to be desired. The interesting plot, I think, makes up for the flaws. I recommend this for fans of the show looking for something to supplement the canon that was cut short.

comments

Avengers (2012)
Every Judas Loved His Jesus by Croik: Loki/Steve; word count -130k

A long and supremely satisfying, hurt you so good kind of fic. Don't let the pairing or warnings (on the AO3 page) throw you off, Croik makes the pairing and concept work. The supporting cast, especially Justin Hammer, is excellent. No one feels out of place or extraneous. Both Steve and Loki are very in character. Again, I'm hesitant to say much because I don't want to give anything away. Needless to say, this is a fic that you should at least take a chance on if you managed to skip over it.

Harry Potter
Green Eyed Snake by Rhys: Gen, Slytherin!Harry & Draco friendship; word count - 66k

As the author's notes state, this is a What if? AU take on Harry's first year. What if Harry met the Malfoy's first at King's Cross? This a fabulous and thoughtful twist on an old trope. Harry's friendship with Draco is believable and Harry is not so far removed in personality from his canon counterpart. I've read plenty of redo Slytherin!Harry fics, but this is best Harry & Draco friendship fic so far. They are all children and they think and worry about childish things. Harry's not concerned with telling Draco how wrong his father's views are and convincing him to be 'good,' he just wants to have friends and keep the peace (between his Slytherin and other house friends) the best he can.

The author is working on book two here. But, book one is still a satisfying read even if the series is not finished yet.

comments

For Science by caras_galadhon (Galadriel): Bruce Banner/Tony Stark ; word count - 2k

I didn't think a PWP featuring Bruce fisting Tony (and a clueless and adorable Thor) could be both very beautiful and very funny and not squicky at all, but here you go. It's really short and easy to read and totally worth it. It's written very tastefully so that the fisting part isn't so graphic. Give it a chance, even if fisting isn't your thing.

The Twice-Told Tale by arysteia: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark; word count - 15k

A beautiful, beautiful fic. I'm hesitant say much because... well, you'll see. This fic is lovely and exciting, to say the least. It's not too long, so give it a try. You'll be wanting more when you get to the end.

Nine Lives by MaverikLoki; Loki/Tony Stark; word count - 44k

Yep. It's a fic where Loki is stuck as a cat while an unwitting Tony takes care of him. I usually avoid character-turned-into-a-cat fics because they tend to be obnoxious, but MaverikLoki's writing made this fic very enjoyable. It's really cute and heartwarming and fluffy and... well, obnoxiously adorable. Loki and Tony manage to stay pretty well in character, too. Their transition into a sexual relationship takes a little suspension of disbelief, but it is believable if you take into account the light tone of the story. If you are looking for something that'll make you smiley, I think this fic will help.

comments
